Portrait of Helmut Kogler

…born in 1977 in Linz, Upper Austria.
He was educated on the Viennese Horn at the Upper Austrian music school. At the same place he completed a course on wind band conducting and attended a course on composition and arranging for wind band with Thomas Doss. From his childhood on he had intensive contact with music, however, his education was directed to a technical career. After a secondary school for mechanical engineering he studied Mechatronics and received his PhD in technical sciences at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz.

After some little compositions and arrangements for ensembles he mainly writes for symphonic wind orchestra. Besides various commissions he achieved international performances and several radio broadcasts.
